Ahhh Christmas, the time to eat so much you basically turn into a pig in a blanket and watch so much TV you fall asleep on the sofa covered in crumbs. It’s pretty much perfect right? Well to aid you in your Christmas coma I thought I’d put together a few TV and films suggestions for you to indulge in over the Christmas break.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll have a list as long as Santa’s of shows you need to catch up on watching. The Christmas break is the perfect time to make a dent in that list whilst you’re relaxing with the family munching some snacks. I’m going to share some classics shows but also some new additions I’ve been enjoying lately too.
The Harry Potter films.
We all have those films that aren’t Christmas films but we watch around Christmas time and for me, mine is Harry Potter. It’s probably to do with the fact that they are always shown at xmas time on TV but there is something so magical about it all at the most magical time of year.
I’ve never watched the Queens speech on Christmas day, or ever really been interested in the royal family, but that’s the beauty of great television, when it’s done well it changes everything. The Crown is hands down one of the most amazing TV shows I’ve ever watched and if you haven’t seen it on Netflix yet, you have to 1000% watch it. Right now…go!
This one might not be for all the family, but if you’re into thrillers this one is for you. It’s short and sweet and has enough twists and turns to really keep you interested. Don’t you love a series that catches you off guard and exceeds expectations? because this was one of those for me.
Gavin and Stacey.
This is another one of those shows that I love watching at Christmas time, especially the xmas special! It’s such a warm and homely show that you can’t help but love it and all the family can enjoy it together! The scene where Smithy is singing down the phone to Gav is a classic and i’m pretty sure this is where the idea for Car Pool Karaoke probably started all those years ago!
Big Fat Quiz of the Year.
I know this show seems to go on for like 23864 hours but I love sitting down nearer New Years to watch this. I’m not really a fan of New Year so anything that brings a little comedy into my life is welcomed.
I’m not really sure why but I always seem to catch this film around the Christmas break time and thus in my head it’s now associated with the festive season. I’ve already watched my quota for it this year and I remember every time I watch it how much I fell in love with this film when it first came out. I’m such a huge fan of musical-eque animated films.
Those are my little Christmas break favourites and even just writing about them makes me excited to curl up with a book and have them playing in the background. What films or tv shows do you always watch around Christmas? I know Dr Who is another big one! Let me know your favs in the comments so I can potentially add some new ones to my list!
