We all work so hard and have such hectic lives that when it comes to the weekend we need to really slow down and take some ‘me time’. I thought it would be fun to share what my perfect weekend would entail and remind myself that it’s important to have a lazy weekend from time to time.
I’m one of those people who seem to be constantly busy, whether it’s a busy week at work, trying to go to the gym, spending time with friends/partners whilst trying to somehow maintain a relationship with Netflix, write blog posts, paint for my Etsy shop and do all of normal ‘life’ stuff. I’m not sure if i’m getting old or something, but time seems to whizz by and before I know it, another week has zipped by and I’m thinking about my lazy weekend plans. Here are a few things I like to schedule into a lazy weekend to make it the optimum no-plans-zone.
I tend to sleep in on the weekend, just because I can. I’m not one of those people that can stay in bed till 1pm but I do like to get up about 10-11ish after watching some TV in bed with Nick. I’m also one of those people who tend to forget to eat on the weekend which is probably the opposite to everyone else, ha! So I like to make effort with a big tasty brunch. We usually have beans on toast with bacon, bacon sandwiches, or if i’m feeling particularly extravagant I’ll make pancakes and bacon. Nothing helps get a lazy weekend going like a big tasty brunch with a huge cup of tea.
A cosy environment.
From the moment I make it home after work on a Friday evening, I’m immediately in my slipper socks and my dressing gown or sat curled up on the sofa in my blanket. My aim is to be as comfortable and as warm as possible for the whole weekend because I spend all week at work freezing under the air con and stuffed into my high waisted jeans. I light a few candles, turn on my fairy lights and make myself super cosy.
The weekend is time for me to do all the things I wanted to do during the week but felt too knackered to do normally. I’d usually spend some of the weekend playing games with Nick, we usually flit between Overwatch or League of Legends but occasionally I’ll play something by myself. Then I’ll pick something on TV to watch in the background whilst getting my blog on. Either that or spending a good chunk of the day catching up on all of my YouTube subs. Then just before bed when I’m starting to get sleepy, I like to get comfy and cosy in bed and read a couple of chapters of whatever book I’m reading (here are a few books I recently hauled) before nodding off.
If I feel like I want to have a productive weekend, I’ll either spend a good chunk of the weekend writing blog posts or brainstorming ideas or I’ll crack out the paints and enjoy some relaxing watercolour painting for my shop. I really enjoy sitting on the sofa get wrapped up warm, watching something on Netflix and working on my blog, it’s probably the reason why I managed to watch so much TV because it’s easy to have it on in the background whilst I’m writing.
That’s everything I love doing on a typical weekend, lazying around eating snacks and enjoying working on my blog. Whats your perfect weekend plans? Let me know in the comments as I’d love to know what you all get up to!
