Creativity is like the sea, it floods in and engulfs you and other times it pulls away and leaves you washed up. It’s definitely a wave that you have to ride whilst you can. When you’re a blogger this can mean you’re totally feeling your writing and bash out posts left right and center, other times it’s totally feeling your photography and nailing those Instagram posts. Right now, I just can’t stop painting and I’m absolutely loving it.
With channeling all of my energy into painting, a few other things have been falling by the way side, like blog posts for example. So what better way to solve that by merging the two together! Ok, I admit it’s cheating a little but why shouldn’t I take full advantage of something when I’m enjoying it and, even better, when you guys are too?
Remember back at the start of the year when I wrote about 10 goals I wanted to achieve this year? Well one of them was to create an Etsy collection for my store that I was super proud of and I finally feel like it’s happening. Although I love every piece I’ve put up in my store, I feel like I was creating pieces that were similar to each other because it was working. Don’t fix what ain’t broke right? Except as someone who is incredibly creative and has always been, this isn’t the best thing to do. So I decided to experiment and try some new more detailed pieces, with decorated frames for them and you lovely, encouraging people have been heart meltingly supportive. Nothing boost your passion for creativity when people love your work. It makes me so incredibly excited to continue growing and improving and sharing the process with you.
It’s kind of scary showing you the process of a sketch, to first putting some colour to the page then going in with details, art is a very personal thing but showing you the process of each piece is also really exciting. You get to see pieces come to life from a blank page, see them develop and evolve into a finished product and that’s something you don’t always get to see. I feel amazingly lucky to be able to share this with you all.
So maybe my blog posts won’t be as frequent as they usually are for awhile, or my Instagram page hasn’t been updated for over a week, but I’m content in my little painting bubble so that’s what I’ll be doing in the meantime and I won’t be feeling guilty about it at all.
I want to end this post with a little motivation line. I want to say to you that you can do that thing you’ve always wanted to do. Want to be able to draw or paint? Then start, start getting something down on paper and enjoy learning and experimenting, it’s so so rewarding! You can either look back on how far you’ve come in 6 or 12 months time, or you can look back in 6 to 12 months time and wish you’d started when you said you would. All it takes is practice and faith in yourself, so do it! There is no time like the present to just enjoy learning a new skill. Channel your creativity into something new and exciting!
If you want to see me painting my little pictures, from a blank page to a finish product, it would mean SO much to me if you followed my art Instagram!
