We all have little things that annoy us, most of those things we can let go and move on, but there are always a handful of things that really grinds our gears, every damn time. I wanted to share a few of my pet peeves on my blog, I thought it would be fun for us to discuss and share after me talking about the 30 things that always makes me happy last week.
01. The wrong use of ‘short hair’.
I have short hair, proper short hair where I can barely tuck it behind my ears. Short hair is great and I love it but sometimes I want to be able to read about cute ways to style it or make it look nice. There is nothing more frustrating than clicking a blog post or YouTube video link that says ‘Short hair’ for you to get to video or post and see the person has shoulder length hair. This is not short hair, this is shoulder length hair, there is a very clear difference. So 99% of the time I’m left disappointed and annoyed.
02. Not spelling my name correctly.
I think I’ve had this conversation about a million times and I must sound like a severely broken record. I’ve had countless phone calls, emails, letters with my name spelt wrong and I really don’t understand why it’s so difficult. Who knew one extra letter could cause so much frustration. Its Tarnya, Tarn-ya, not Tanya, or Tranya or Taryna or any other combination you can think of. It only takes 10 seconds to study a name properly before typing it, so please take the time to do so. It’s also annoying looking like the bad guy all the time constantly correcting people.
03. People who don’t use their manners.
I’ve always been told that ‘manners cost nothing’ and it’s so true. Saying please and thank you doesn’t cost you anything so why wouldn’t you use them? Saying a please or a thank you can make the difference in someone’s day by showing a little appreciation. There is nothing worse than doing something kind for someone like holding a door and they just walking on through like you don’t exist.
04. People who talk through films in the cinema.
Now I’m all for a little excitement and sometimes a few words exchanged between friends is fun. But I can’t stand people who talk during a film, even at home. Nick is the worst for this, he talks so much it’s like a running commentary on everything I’m already seeing (sorry Nick, ha!). I just want to be able to concentrate on what I’m watching and the distraction is just annoying.
05. Using the word ‘lol’ for no reason.
I’m not really sure when this became a thing, but ‘lol’ has turned into an agreement or ‘can’t be bothered to respond properly’ term and it annoys me so much. I’d rather someone say nothing than just ‘lol’, it’s such a lazy way to respond. Also, no-one actually laughs out loud anymore when they use it, so whats the point?? ha!
Ahhhh I feel much better for getting those off my chest. Are there any pet peeves you want to get off your chest? Let me know in the comments!
